Started from the bottom now we're here..
Hey its me!
Let me start off by saying, I have sooo many great ideas, but unless I have someone backing my idea or helping me achieve it, it will go nowhere NOWHERE!
Now usually I have all these awesome idea's, I'll tell my husband and he's really supportive cause in reality its not going anywhere but at least he's said "totally, go for it!"
Well, backtrack to the beginning of 2019. I had momentarily stopped doing this volunteer work I had been doing since 2015 (health reasons). And I found myself bored and in need of a hobby. A friend of mine had started her own polymer clay journey and business. I thought "I love earrings, why not make my own and give myself something to do?".
My ever supportive hubby was all for it. His face though was priceless when I started adding up everything I needed and wanted... but he encouraged me to go for. Gosh he's good!
And so began the earring making. Let me tell you, I wasn't very good at all. I had no clue what I was doing. But I stuck to it, researching all I could, watching all the Youtube tutorials and following makers that provided advice and shared their knowledge.
I was heading overseas at the end of 2019 (before Covid went crazyyyyy) and I really wanted to make gifts for people I would meet along the way. So I knuckled down and started making little koala and kangaroo earrings. All the while I had improved my own skills and started selling my creations through instagram and through a website that was quickly put together.
I created some fun styles ones that I still love. But I have since found my "style". Im big on neutrals, so big on neutrals that I requested neutral hi-vis. Which I found out completely defeats the purpose of hi-vis, I was extremely disappointed. I do love a bit of colour as well so don't stress I've got you covered (new collection coming soon).
Sooo thats basically my beginnings with polymer clay. Im constantly learning and trying new skills, which is what I absolutely love about this medium, there is so much you can do with it. And even though it may seem like polymer clay is something absolutely every babe and their flamingo is doing, there is room for everyone because everyone has their own take and style.
Anywayssss, Im just so grateful for all the support and encouragement my hubby gave me along the way. If it wasn't for him it would have been just one of my ideas. So you can all thank him for backing me.
I'll be back for another blog about something I'm sure but ciao for now.
